Ramones - Bonzo Goes to Bitburg

One of the bands I regret never seeing

Long ago when we were out and about much more than now there were three bands we went to see every time they were fairly close: Frank Zappa, The Kinks, and The Ramones. When they made their last tour we were too late deciding to go to be able to buy tickets. Then a Portland radio station announced they had the two last ones to give away if someone could call and convince the announcer. I got through right away and told him I really needed to get sedated. Guess where we went that night?

I never saw the Ramones. I'm jealous of Susan. ;-)

Wow that was fortunate Susan. Sadly there will never be a Ramones reunion what with Johnny, Joey and Dee Dee all having died

I envy Susan too Sphinx!

I saw them live at the Hammersmith Odeon on one of my long ago return trips to England. It was the most high energy gig I've ever seen. As soon as one foot came on stage the whole audience went up and forward.

I can imagine what the crowd was like at a Ramones gig, even at the Hammy Odeon!. Ach it's a long time since it was called that. For a while it was the Labatt's Apollo for fuck's sake!

Oh no! No more Hammersmith Odeon? I saw Planet of The Apes there when I was a kid. And I was born in Hammersmith and went to high school there too. :)

It's still there but under a different name. The Palais and the Clarendon have gone. Many a fine concert I saw at the former while I saw Robert Calvert (the person I use for my avatar) at the Clarendon not long before he died
