Thanks Melane, Alison, tegdirb I'm glad you like them

Stacei there isn't much of a trick I took the photos with a Nikon D70 with a sigma 105mm macro lens, 1/60 sec about f16 (I cant remember now) with the built in flash (I'm getting a ring flash soon.

On the PC I cropped to 8x10 format as it fitted the images better than 4x6. I reduced the brightness slightly and increased teh contrast a little too. I did manipluate the images a little but there are no tricks

Strange and eerie but nicely photographed.

Love that you shot them in bud instead of full flower - make you 'see' them differently - Great Shots! Thanks for visiting!

I like the Alium. I have some in my garden and it's been fascinating watching their growth from how they are in your picture to fully flowered.

Beautiful! Incredible! Most people photograph flowers, not the buds. I am going to run out tomorrow to try it. Good Job!

The compare/contrast pictures made me think of that song that says, "Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." I guess that holds true for perennials.

By the way, I HATE that song with a passion, but Papi has been quoting it like it was some profound piece of Nabokov for the last 10 years.

jams o donnell said...

Closing time by Green Day? I cant recall the song immediately but I am sure I have heard it and would recognise it if I heard it.

I had to look it up but Green Day are quoting the Roman Seneca!

elasticwaistbandlady said...

No it was by one-hit wonders Semisonic. It's called "Closing Time."

jams o donnell said...

Ah. I'm sorry to say I don't think I know the song.
